Last week, the Politico offered a handy list of seven things the White House wants reporters to write about Pres. Obama’s first 100 days in office. The piece makes a nice enough frame for evaluating whether the Obama’s hoped-for spin matches reality.

Obama is a promise-keeper?

Obama undoubtedly would like this storyline, but the Politico did not come up with any examples of it. Obama has kept a few promises; he has given things to the abortion lobby, usually late on Friday evenings when he hopes no one will notice.

However, it is fairly easy to compile a larger list of promises Obama has broken or is breaking. Many of those broken promises are just fine with the Right — Obama has adopted the Bush adminsitration’s positions on lawsuits over “torture,” warrantless wiretapping, state secrets and policies the powers that allow the president to indefinitely detain suspected terror supporters. The administration is negotiating possible exceptions to the June 30 deadline for withdrawing American combat troops from Iraqi cities (as he should, given that his retreatist rhetoric worked against his own stated goals). Obama has flip-flopped on the free-trade pact with Colombia and NAFTA. Even before he was elected, he broke his promises to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil (though one suspects they are still on his “to do” list).

Other broken promises will tend to bother only the Right, like the abandonment of his inaugural pledge to end ineffective government programs.

Still other promises Obama has broken are more troubling — and not just to the Right. The adminsitration that promised transparency has shrouded some of its signature inititives in secrecy. The Obama Administration is not policing its stimulus spending for waste, fraud and abuse, not doing the legally-required oversight of TARP funds and not providing information to the Congressional Oversight Panel on TARP. Attorney General Eric Holder promised looser standards for Freedom of Information Act requests, but the lawsuits seeking information about the administration’s bailout programs are piling up. Neil Barofsky, the special inspector general overseeing the TARP, has already opened 20 criminal investigations and six audits into whether tax dollars are being pilfered or wasted.

Obama is a game-changer?

This is actually two of the Politico’s entries. In discussing Obama as promise-keeper and game-changer, VandeHei and Harris write:

The White House is pushing back against what it realizes is a dangerous perception that Obama may be trying to do too much, too fast — and cynically exploiting the economic crisis to push through unrelated agenda items…

The White House is worried that the public does not sufficiently grasp Obama’s view that his ideas fit together in a coherent strategy to force massive change in government, the financial sector and, ultimately, people’s lives.

It is small wonder Obama is having a tough time pushing this line. His own supporters do not buy it. The establishment media does not buy it (as the Politico itself notes). Democrats in Congress do not buy it, either. Obama’s own party has rolled him on any number of issues, supposedly in return for healthcare reform. The Democrats now threaten to railroad it through the budget reconciliation process, but the lack of money and the Byrd Rule provide plenty of leverage against it. Meanwhile, Lefties are already worried about what else Obama gave up to get healthcare in budget reconciliation.

Has Obama been a game-changer on the world stage? Obama’s diplomatic overtures have been rejected by the European Union, NATO, Russia, North Korea, Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Iran and much of Latin America. Obama’s unprecedented disclosure of CIA operational methods is already degrading US intelligence collection around the world. That might be game-changing, but not of the sort Obama wants the press to publicize.

Obama is the decider?

Not too long ago, a president pushing the idea that he was “the decider” would have been mocked by the media, but whatever. The Los Angeles Times and The Politico point to Obama’s White House confrontation with bank executives as an example of his bold style. However, the result of Obama’s bullying — as well as his handling of the AIG bonuses issue — is that banks are now trying to leave the TARP. The administration has also had problems getting lenders to participate in the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility and the Public-Private Investment Program because lenders have lost any trust that Obama and the Democratic Congress will not change the rules in midstream for reasons of political expediency.

Obama’s not in the bubble?

The Politico notes that ABC, The Washington Post and The New York Times have already done stories about how the president reads 10 letters from ordinary Americans every day. (Presumably, none of them are from Joe the Plumber, who was villified and investigated by local authorities for the crime of asking then-candidate Obama a question about his proposals.) There is considerably less media coverage when his “town hall” meetings are packed with pre-selected Obama supporters (much like his predecessor), or when he spends more time schmoozing celebrities than either Bush or Clinton (and seeking policy advice from them). Elkhart, Indiana, which has the country’s highest unemployment rate, would be crushed by Obama’s policies on energy and the environment. In South Carolina, ordinary Obama supporters are exhausted and losing patience with his agenda. When hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans organize protests of his policies, the White House would prefer not to acknowledge it.

Obama is not FDR and Obama is FDR!

The Politico reports that the Obama administration knows “there is a danger in investing too much in an essentially bogus journalistic convention that supposes Obama can reshape Washington and the world in 100 days,” but “White House aides make clear they love the New Deal analogies.” That conflict reflects a certain level of narcissism — one that seems to flow from the very top.

Obama is one cool cucumber?

Really? In reality, Pres. Obama gets testy whenever the press starts asking uncomfortable questions. He cut off a joint presser in Britain, just like he walked out on one during the campaign.

Obama certainly tries to project the image of cool, but this could turn into a liability. People may have laughed when Obama could not muster convincing fauxtrage over the AIG bonuses, but the White House later found itself in a scramble to stay ahead of the genuine — if misplaced — anger on the issue. Obama’s reputation may also cast doubt on the claim that he was “furious” after an Air Force One lookalike and two F-16s buzzed the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor Monday morning. If the economy does not recover in a reasonable timeframe, more people will start seeing him as aloof, not cool.

What’s Missing?

The press narratives selected by the Politico are… selective. Other storylines abound. For example, the media will likely not address Obama’s failure at basic executive tasks, like staffing his administration. Obama is heading into its first medical outbreak without a secretary of Health and Human Services or appointees in any of the department’s 19 key posts. There were difficulties planning the G20 summit because every senior post in the US Treasury Department was vacant, with the exception of Secretary Timmy Geithner. Speaking of whom, Geithner reminds us of the large number of scandal-plagued nominees that emerged from Obama’s apparently flawed vetting operation. Again, these are stores that get glossed over during a president’s honeymoon, but will be remembered if future events are not to Obama’s favor.

After 100 days of unprecedented, saturation media coverage, Pres. Obama finds himself with an average level of public approval that masks how deeply polarized that public opinion is. Rest assured, that is not on any list of what the White House wants reporters to write about Pres. Obama’s first 100 days in office.

My guess is he has been nothing more than a RHINO anyhow and never truly conservative!

Specter Intends to Switch Political Parties

Sources say veteran GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch parties .

Veteran GOP Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch political parties and run in the Democratic primary in 2010, FOX News has confirmed.

"I deeply regret that I will be disappointing many friends and supporters," Specter said in prepared remarks to be delivered at a news conference on Tuesday.

"I can understand their disappointment," he continued. "I am also disappointed that so many in the party I have worked for for more than four decades do not want me to be their candidate. It is very painful on both sides."

The switch puts Democrats within two votes of a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Democrats currently hold 56 seats in the Senate, and two independents typically vote with the party. Republicans have 41 seats, and there is one vacancy.

100 Days what has he done

100 DAYS: WHAT HAS HE ACCOMPLISHED?

I asked this question all day yesterday, and I will ask it again today. Then, to make sure you are completely bored, I will ask it again tomorrow. I will continue to ask it until somebody gives me a freaking response. For all the hoopla surrounding Obama's approaching 100th day in office, what has the man accomplished? Seriously, folks. I want someone to answer the question.

Now the Democrat National Committee will tell you that Obama has "laid a foundation for change." Big deal. Fidel Castro "laid a foundation for change" in Cuba in the late '50s. When in the world are people going to understand that its not the change that is important .. its what you're changing into. From my Obama's change has been all about changing a society based on individualism, liberty and self-sufficiency into one based on collectivism, soft tyranny and government dependence. If that's what you voted for .. well then that's just what you're going to get.

Back to the Democrat National Committee. They have a good bit of cash lying around ... so they decided to spend some on brushing up Obama's image. The committee has produced a television ad to promote Obama's accomplishments during his first 100 days! Wow! This ought to be pretty sensational! We're getting this straight from the source! So here is what the Democrat National Committee says that Obama has accomplished:

-He signed the economic recovery act (the stimulus bill)

-He signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act

-He signed a bill for the State Children's Health Insurance Program

-He has outlined plans to "invest" in areas like healthcare, energy and education

Is there anything that stands out to you about this list? Here's something to think about ... how many of these acts or bills or plans do anything to decrease the size, scope or spending of the federal government? Another question ... which one of these great and glorious accomplishments actually enhance freedom in America? The answer would be none. Obama's greatest accomplishments have been promising change and growing our government. For a liberal, this probably makes Obama a very accomplished president. Obama isn't the only person out there who believes that America's greatness comes from government.

As I told you yesterday .. the people who are going to be most affected by Obama's first 100 days in office are people who are not in a position to comment on the job he's done thus far. These people are your children and your grandchildren. Save all of these articles and columns praising Obama for his rock star status and "hipness" ... let them see how cool future generations think it is to be paying of a massive debt brought on by a inexperienced bit-government leader who gained power on the basis of a slogan.

OBAMA THE ROCK STAR

The articles pouring out of the lamestream media about Obama's first 100 days are priceless. I was serious, folks, about making a little scrapbook for your children. Yesterday I hope you had the chance to read the article about Obama being our "hippest" president. Today, we get this article from the American Free Press: Obamas rock and rule. Let me just give you a taste of what this has to offer ....

Fans swooning over the First Family's every move, wall-to-wall media coverage and one pampered pooch: the Obamas are the planet's hottest rock stars busy revamping the image of the US presidency.

In the 100 days since President Barack Obama and his family arrived in the White House there has been no sign of any let-up in the Obamania which swept the globe during the 2008 campaign.

Rather it has moved to the next level.

Tweenie girls now pin posters of the Obama's daughters, Malia, 10 and Sasha, seven, to their bedroom walls and fantasize about joining White House sleepovers and becoming BFFL -- best friends for life -- with the First Kids.

Magazine editors fight for the coolest image of the new president and his wife, Michelle, whether digging in the new organic garden, showing off their honed muscles, or romping with the First dog, Bo ...

And even though the United States is in the grip of its worst recession since the Great Depression of the 1930s, it seems the Obamas can do no wrong ....

Washingtonians have been lapping it up. Restaurants graced by the Obamas, see seats booked up for weeks ahead afterwards.

Kids are clamoring to get onto basketball teams in the hope that they will bump into one of the girls, and by extension their parents. And suddenly frumpy, staid old Washington is cool again.

This is what Americans wanted from their president, and they got it. The American Idol, YouTube, Entertainment Tonight voters of this country wanted a president that would look really cool on the cover of magazines, so they voted for the guy. They knew nothing about how he would represent our country to foreign leaders, no concept of his desires to radically grow our government, nothing. As I said before, your children will pay the price for this obsession with having a rock star for a president.

URGENT Congress is going to vote

Congress is moving closer to a showdown over the largest expansion of government in modern U.S. history -- a bill which would require virtually every single American to buy government-approved health insurance, whether they wanted it or not. And, in the process, that bill would feed all of your most confidential medical data into an enormous database, which could be used to take away your guns.

This is a bit complicated. But here's where we are:

Once a year, the 1974 Budget Act allows Congress to pass a bill -- solely for the purpose of balancing the budget -- and that bill cannot be filibustered in the Senate. Hence, it can be passed with only fifty Democrat votes (plus the vice president), without any Republican support.

Now, that supposed "budget-balancing bill" is called the "reconciliation bill" -- and it can only be created if the annual budget resolution mandates it.

On his recent trip to Central America, President Barack Obama did more than
cozy up to Marxist dictators; he also signed onto an international treaty
that could, in effect, be used as backdoor gun control. It appears that
Obama wants to use international treaties to do what congressional
legislation is not able to do: further restrict the right of the American
people to keep and bear arms.

Obama is using the oft-disproved contention that "90% of the guns recovered
in Mexico come from the United States" as the stated basis of his support
for the international treaty he is promoting. The treaty is formally known
as the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and
Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Other Related Materials
(CIFTA) treaty. The Bill Clinton administration signed the treaty back in
1997, but the U.S. Senate has never ratified the treaty. Obama intends to
change that.

To date, 33 nations in the western hemisphere have signed the treaty. The
U.S. is one of four nations that have yet to ratify it. According to one
senior Obama administration official, passing the treaty is a "high
priority" for the President.

If ratified, the treaty would require the United States to adopt "strict
licensing requirements, mark firearms when they are made and imported to
make them easier to trace, and establish a process for sharing information
between national law enforcement agencies investigating [gun] smuggling."

Senator John Kerry, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee promises to
"work for its [the CIFTA treaty's] approval by the Senate."

Should the Senate ratify CIFTA, Americans who reload ammunition would be
required to get a license from the government, and factory guns and
ammunition would be priced almost out of existence due to governmental
requirements to "mark" each one manufactured. Even the simple act of adding
an after-market piece of equipment to a firearm, such as a scope or bipod,
or reassembling a gun after cleaning it could fall into the category of
"illicit manufacturing" of firearms and require government license and
oversight.

In addition, CIFTA would authorize the U.S. federal government (and open the
door to international entities) to supervise and regulate virtually the
entire American firearms industry. Making matters worse is the fact that, as
a treaty, this Act does not have to be passed by both houses of Congress,
nor is it subject to judicial oversight. All Obama needs to do in order to
enact this unconstitutional and egregious form of gun control is convince a
Democratic-controlled Senate to pass it.

Obviously, the United Nations, from its very inception, has been one of the
world's most ardent gun control proponents. As anyone who has ever driven by
the U.N. building in New York City knows, a huge statue of an American-made
revolver with its barrel twisted in the shape of a pretzel greets every
visitor. The CIFTA treaty is one of the U.N.'s pet projects in order to
achieve this long-held ambition.

Of course, Obama is a longtime liberal radical when it comes to the Second
Amendment. As a senator, he voted against the Second Amendment at every
opportunity. He has never seen a piece of gun control legislation that he
did not support. And as I have said before in this column, gun control is
high on the list of priorities for the newly elected President Barack Obama.

For Obama to intimate that 90% of the firearms used by Mexican drug cartels
come from the United States reveals either a truly dishonest and deceptive
mind or a totally misinformed and na�ve one. Many studies have thoroughly
debunked the 90% myth, including one by William La Jeunesse and Maxim Lott
in a recent Fox News report. According to these researchers, the real number
is closer to 17%.

According to La Jeunesse and Lott, Mexican drug cartels, which control
billions of dollars, obtain the overwhelming majority of their guns from the
Black Market, Russian crime syndicates, South America, China, Guatemala, and
even from the Mexican army.

In fact, Mexico is a virtual arms bazaar: AK-47s from China; fragmentation
grenades from South Korea; shoulder-fired rocket launchers from Spain,
Israel and former Soviet bloc dealers; assault weapons from China; and
explosives from Korea--just to name a few sources.

In addition, according to Mexican Congressman Robert Badillo, more than
150,000 Mexican soldiers have deserted in just the last six years. The vast
majority of them took their weapons with them, including the standard issue
M-16 assault rifle made in Belgium.

And please do not forget that corruption within the Mexican government is
rampant. Many news sources have covered stories of how drug cartels bribe
Mexican officials. An article in the New York Times last year reported, "One
of Mexico's most notorious drug cartels made huge cash payments to officials
in the Mexican attorney general's office in exchange for confidential
information on anti-drug operations . . . the cartel might have had an
informant inside the American embassy."

The Mexican drug cartels control a multi-billion dollar enterprise that has
more than enough resources to obtain planeloads of weapons from all over the
world. For Obama to assert that 90% of the Mexican drug cartels' firearms
come from the United States is a bald-faced lie! Again, either Obama is
stupid and na�ve or he is deliberately lying to the American people in order
to "sell" the CIFTA treaty to the U.S. Senate. I think we all know that Mr.
Obama is anything but stupid and na�ve.

In addition to the CIFTA treaty, liberal Chicago Democrat Congressman Bobby
Rush has introduced H.R. 45 in the House of Representatives. This bill is
anything but subtle. It is an in-your-face gun control bill that would make
"Mr. Gun Control," the late Senator Howard Metzenbaum, shout Hallelujah.

H.R. 45 would require a federal license for all handguns and semiautomatics,
including the ones you already possess. It would require handgun and
semi-auto owners to be thumbprinted at a police station and sign a
certificate that the gun will not be kept in a place where it could be used
for the defense of the gun owner's family.

In all likelihood, H.R. 45 is probably a long shot at passing both houses of
Congress, albeit gun owners should never take any proposed gun control bill
for granted. The CIFTA treaty, however, is much more dangerous due to its
subtlety and subterfuge, the less cumbersome process of passage, and the
fact that it makes U.S. gun owners subject to international gun control
laws.

All in all, freedom in America is on the Obama White House chopping block.
And this much is certain: if the American people do not retain the right to
keep and bear arms, every other freedom we hold dear will quickly disappear
as well. Moreover, if we do retain the right to keep and bear arms, it will
only be because enough of us--and our state and federal legislators--resist
the tyrannical gun control machinations of Barack Obama. And that means
defeating the CIFTA treaty and H.R. 45.

In February, 2009 something really odd and very ominous broke in the news: Panasonic Corporation issued orders to all its top executives outside of Japan to sell their homes and make certain they moved themselves and their families back to Japan not later than the end of September, 2009.

The story was reported by Bloomberg Business news specifically mentions Panasonic feared the outbreak of "new flu strains." (HERE)

Bio-Weapon!

On April 22, CNN reported that viruses from the U.S. Army Bioweapons Lab at Fort Detrick, MD had gone missing. What type of viruses? Flu!

Johns-Hopkins Doctor says Flu is MAN MADE!

From CDC via Wikipedia: Anne Schuchat, director of CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that the American cases were found to be made up of genetic elements from four different flu viruses -- North American swine influenza, North American avian influenza, human influenza A virus subtype H1N1, and swine influenza virus typically found in Asia and Europe.

In a discussion this morning with a cell biologist and medical doctor working at Johns Hopkins, they said they thought this new, 4-part flu combination is highly unusual and looks like it could be man-made. Especially because it has an avian strain.

By late night on April 22 the trouble in Mexico had grown. 1,000 flu cases had been reported in Mexico City and 60 people had already died. That's a 6% mortality rate. Remember that number: SIX PERCENT.

Actress Janine Garafolo calls us "Racists" so I have a question errr several questions. (OH And I laugh everytime Obama's name is typed on my computer his name is not recognized by the spellchecker so is always underslined in red....its great- I don't correct it because it is the only humor I can find in this man)

QUESTION(s): I would love to know how many OBAMA SUPPORTERS have become "RACISTS" like us? How many people who VOTED FOR OBAMA ARE NOW "ONE OF US"?

How many people who VOTED FOR Obama are now some of the tea party protesters? That is what I mean.

I wonder how many within the black communities are now starting to understand that they were LIED TO and used to get him elected. That is a sad thing to find out after you put all of your heart and soul into a candidate.

Napolitano should be fired!
Our troops don’t deserve this treatment!

Just when you think the Obama Administration cannot get any worse on national security, the blockbusters news breaks that they want law enforcement to scrutinize our returning military heroes for being right wing terrorist extremists. How outrageous! Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano should be FIRED for issuing such an outrageous report.

As if Eric Holder’s “nation of cowards” comment was not bad enough, now more officials of Obama’s administration are fomenting public outrage with divisive and anti-military views on ugly display for the whole country to see. Now Janet Napolitano’s department is under fire for asserting that our troops are likely candidates for domestic terrorism!

The Department of Homeland Security issued a report to its agents, advising them to be on the lookout for right-wing extremists to become violent and possibly commit terrorists acts and even goes so far as to allege that our TROOPS RETURNING FROM IRAQ will likely join these extremist groups. And now the Wall Street Journal is even reporting that our military heroes returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have been a target of a special FBI probe into ‘extremism’ since February!

Please help us defend our patriotic veterans and our military’s good name.

The Obama has been appointing far-left wing extremists to key posts at the Pentagon and the State Department, but want law enforcement to check out our returning military men and women. This is a total insult to the troops and to every American that appreciates the sacrifice of our military in protecting our security and freedom against Islamic terrorism.

The DHS report also defines “right wing extremism” as “groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as immigration or abortion.” What about supporting our troops and their missions? Move America Forward is dedicated to that single issue, so under that definition, they are lumping vets and pro-troop groups like ours together with hate groups like the Aryan Nation!

This is outrageous!

Janet Napolitano, the former Governor of Arizona who was appointed with much controversy to the office of Homeland Security Secretary, ought to be fired in shame for allowing this report to be published!

It comes as no surprise to Move America Forward that under Napolitano’s leadership, that the DHS is now suspicious of our own military men and women instead of the real threats posed by jihadists; we have been disturbed by Napolitano’s views ever since she was confirmed. In Napolitano’s first testimony to congress as DHS Secretary, she failed to even MENTION terrorism or 9/11even ONCE.

How can Homeland Security protect the citizens from the greatest threat, radical Islamic terrorism, if the director of the department refuses to even recognize it? When Napolitano was asked why she refused to talk about terror, she responded

“In my speech, although I did not use the word “terrorism,” I referred to “man-caused” disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear…”

If that’s right, that it’s not terrorism, but man-caused disasters, maybe we should respond with FEMA not the ARMY!

Napolitano should resign immediately or be fired for allowing this shameful
report to pass through the Department of Homeland Security.

Janet Napolitano clearly does not understand the War on Terror, our troops’ mission, and obviously she does not respect their professionalism or their sacrifices because she allowed this horrible report to be published. Many veterans groups are outraged including the American Legion, and we agree with them that Napolitano is way off base.

She tried to apologize yesterday during an interview with CNN where she said “I apologize for that offense. It certainly was not intended.” But she never admitted that the department was wrong to characterize vets as violent, extremist, and racist! And she didn’t explain why the FBI is intentionally probing our veterans as potential threats. WASHINGTON – While Barack Obama is basking in praise for his "decisive" handling of the Somali pirate attack on a merchant

ship in the India Ocean, reliable military sources close to the scene are painting a much different picture of the incident – accusing the president of employing restrictive rules of engagement that actually hampered the rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips and extended the drama at sea for days.
Multiple opportunities to free the captain of the Maersk Alabama from three young pirates were missed, these sources say – all because a Navy SEAL team was not immediately ordered to the scene and then forced to operate under strict, non-lethal rules of engagement.
They say the response duty office at the Pentagon was initially unwilling to grant an order to use lethal force to rescue Phillips. They also report the White House refused to authorize deployment of a Navy SEAL team to the location for 36 hours, despite the recommendation of the on-scene commander.
The White House also turned down two rescue plans offered up by the Seal commander on the scene and the captain of the USS Bainbridge.
The SEAL team operated under rules of engagement that required them to do nothing unless the hostage's life was in "imminent' danger.

In fact, when the USS Bainbridge dispatched a rigid-hull inflatable boat to bring supplies to the Maersk Alabama, it came under fire that could not be returned even though the SEAL team had the pirates in their sights.
Many hours before the fatal shots were fired, taking out the three young pirates, Phillips jumped into the Indian Ocean with the idea of giving the snipers a clear target. However, the SEAL team was still under orders not to shoot.
Hours later, frustrated by the missed opportunities to resolve the standoff, the commander of the Bainbridge and the captain of the Navy SEAL team determined they had operational authority to evaluate the risk to the hostage, and took out the pirates at the first opportunity – finally freeing Phillips.

Have Gun May Travel??

I came across this article from a Florida paper that came thru an RV forum I frequent and wow the stir this has caused!! Seems many believe in gun rights and a couple that not so much. I had a link about each states gun rights that I can not find at this time so will post it as soon as I do. I have refrained from commenting on the forum on the topic as I believe as I do and nothing anyone says or does will change my mind and I am sure for the most part vice versa.

The inherent novelty of a recreational vehicle is the convenience of bringing your home with you wherever you go. RV enthusiasts can travel on their own schedule and take a break from noisy neighbors and lawn maintenance.

But, like any hobby, there are hazards. A broken-down RV on a dark rural road can make an easy target for unsavory characters.

Some argue that traveling with a gun is the best protection for these situations. But that can be a potentially criminal undertaking when traveling from state to state, as many RV owners do.

For example, consider a trip across the state line from Kentucky to Ohio. It's perfectly legal to have a gun in the glove box in Kentucky - whether it's locked or not. Cross over the border, however, and it's a misdemeanor.

In Maryland, it's illegal to transport a gun unless the driver is headed to target practice. South Carolina and Florida do not consider a loaded gun in the glove box a concealed weapon.

Typically, laws are generally the same from state to state, "but not with gun control," said Scott Kappas, an attorney and author of the Traveler's Guide to the Firearms Laws of the Fifty States.

Kappas was inspired to write his book after his father, "an avid RVer," asked for some advice about traveling from state to state with his firearm. After a list was compiled, it made sense to publish it in book form, Kappas said.

"It's something that comes up quite a bit," he said. When crossing state lines, drivers can go from "law abiding citizen to felon."

The book is updated on an annual basis as gun laws change across the states.

Another tricky legal question in regard to RVs is search warrants. The general consensus is a search warrant is required to search a home, but not a vehicle.

But what if your home is a vehicle?

Most states consider an RV a vehicle when the four wheels are rolling or it can be readily moved. When it's parked and hooked up to utilities, it becomes a home. The exception is Texas and Washington, which consider an RV a residence regardless of its status.

"The courts have interpreted it that way," Kappas said.

Hearing Slated For Nonnative Species Ban

On April 23, 2009, a hearing is scheduled on H.R. 669, a ban on nonnative species.

A Congressional subcommittee has scheduled a hearing for legislation that could effectively ban ownership of thousands of nonnative species in the United States, including most reptiles, birds, fish and several mammals (hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and ferrets) commonly kept as pets.

The legislation currently exempts dogs, cats, horses, goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus) and a variety of farm animals, all of which are also not native to the United States.

The House Committee on Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife has scheduled a hearing on House Resolution 669 for April 23, 2009.

Below is our video slideshow of photos. I didn't put music to it yet. We decided the snow falling was Mother Natures confetti or maybe her way of saying she wanted a bailout as well;0) The turnout was AWESOME and proud to have been apart of it. The kids thought it was way cool to go be apart of something major. They had a blast and were happy to be there but got cold so we left about an hour or so into it, but was a huge part of history that they witnessed in person and only lasted as long as they did because they kept reminding themselves many soldiers have gone thru worse and even died for us. Finally soaked thru boots got the better of them and they couldn't endure any more so we walked the several blocks back to our truck and drove back thru to honk our support.

We must emphasize that we are not against taxes, unless they are without representation, and we are not against government, unless the leaders are either tyrants or believe in and promote anarchy. These were the issues our founding fathers designed the constitution to counter. The founders could not have seen the future of technological development, but they did have a thorough understanding of human greed, avarice, jealousy, and selfish ambition. The constitution was designed to counter these, as was Jefferson’s plan for education. We must emphasize what we are for, not what we are against. We are for government that is wise, virtuous, honorable, and trustworthy. We are for responsible spending. We are for the virtues of honor, integrity, hard work, personal responsibility, reverence, life-long learning, thrift, and civility. We must emphasize this group is made up of responsible citizens that belong to all financial walks of life, all political parties, and all religious backgrounds. This movement is made of we the people of the United States that want responsible government and not the corruption we have seen with all political parties. We must emphasize that we are a republic, not a democracy or socialist nation. We are here to protect our republic from irresponsible leaders who believe the ruling class is better than the governed. In other words, we believe in each other and the potential each of us possess and do not believe we need someone to tell us how to live because we are and have the ability to be and pass on a wise and virtuous populace.
