More GM government takeover stuff

WARRANTY ENTITLEMENT?

Starting today the United States government will stand behind your warranty. That means that the United States taxpayers are guaranteeing your warranty. Excuse me, but doesn't this take some type of legislation? How does the president suddenly decide that all GM, Ford and Chrysler warranties are to be guaranteed by taxpayers?

Excuse me .. and I know that this is old fashioned thinking ... but I don't seem to remember the congress passing a law saying that the taxpayers could guarantee automobile warranties for a select number of owners. Maybe Herman Cain was doing my show that day. But .. Barack is King right now .. and all he really has to do is say it, and it's law.

Wait! There's more! Aren't we going to have to establish a grand new government bureaucracy to handle all of these warranties? And once that government bureaucracy is established, how many of you think it will ever be dissolved? How many of you think that we will ever reach the point where warranties on cars manufactured in America aren't guaranteed by the taxpayers? Who is going to set the warranty terms? The government or the automakers? Will we have politicians campaigning on the promise to extend and expand car warranties? How about "If you vote for so-and-so, you're going to have to pay to repair your own car."

We are seeing the beginning of a grand new entitlement program here.

AUTO INDUSTRY VS. WALL STREET

We are seeing a real divide starting to unfold. Again. After yesterday's "tough love" from the Obama administration ... auto workers are now complaining that the Obama administration treated auto workers worse than Wall Street. Maybe that's because the United Auto Workers presents more of a threat to the automobile makers than Wall Street Does. I'm really a little tired of whining from auto workers. If they had been a bit more concerned about the continuing health of their employers.

INTERVENING IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Yesterday we got Obama's official plan for the auto industry. Step #1: Fire the CEO of General Motors. Step #2: Push Chrysler toward a merger with an Italian car company. Step #3: Threaten bankruptcy for both companies. Wall Street didn't seem to like the administration's response. The Dow responded remarkably ... sinking nearly 4%. I guess I would have lost confidence too, if I realized that the government could oust any CEO at will if the president thinks it is the right thing to do. In fact, some experts are saying that this is the most significant presidential intervention in the private sector since 1952 and Harry Truman with the steel industry.

So it is clearly Obama's goal to re-make the auto industry the way he wants it to be, not based on profitability or the demand of the market place. He says, "I am absolutely committed to working with Congress and the auto companies to meet one goal: The United States of America will lead the world in building the next generation of clean cars ... our auto industry is not moving in the right direction fast enough to succeed." In other words .. Obama gets to decide the right direction. Instead of making cars that the consumers want, Obama will decree that the automakers will make cars that HE wants. If they don't move in that direction fast enough he'll just fire one team and hire another.

Well it turns out that this is a direction that Barack Obama has envisioned for a while .. and like his chief of staff says, "never let a good crisis go to waste." In Obama's 2006 autobiography, The Audacity Of Hope, here's what he had to say about his vision for the auto industry: The bottom line is that fuel-efficient cars and alternative fuels like E85, a fuel formulated with 85 percent ethanol, represent the future of the auto industry. It is a future American car companies can attain if we start making some tough choices now. For years U.S. automakers and the UAW have resisted higher fuel-efficiency standards because retooling costs money, and Detroit is already struggling under huge retiree health-care costs and stiff competition. So during my first year in the Senate I proposed legislation I called "Health Care for Hybrids." The bill makes a deal with U.S. automakers: In exchange for federal financial assistance in meeting the health-care costs of retired autoworkers, the Big Three would reinvest these savings into developing more fuel-efficient vehicles.

Aggressively investing in alternative fuel sources can also lead to the creation of thousands of new jobs. Ten or twenty years down the road, that old Maytag plant in Galesburg could reopen its doors as a cellulosic ethanol refinery. Down the street, scientists might be busy in a research lab working on a new hydrogen cell. And across the way, a new auto company could be busy churning out hybrid cars. The new jobs created could be filled by American workers trained with new skills and a world-class education, from elementary school to college. It seems as though Obama is doing a real good job of selling a crisis as a means to institute his vision of the automotive industry. Are you comfortable with this? In fact .. are you comfortable with this level of government enterprise in the marketplace?

I'm think that there's a nagging thought with many of you that this has gone entirely too far .. and that our markets might have self-corrected if the government had let this crisis run its course. And .. if you've been paying attention you should know that this crisis wouldn't have happened .. and it certainly would have been less severe if Barney Frank hadn't stood in the way of efforts of people like George Bush and John McCain to intervene in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac years ago.

BAILOUT DELUXE: FRANK WANTS CONTROLS ON PAY OF ALL EMPLOYEES...

This is something, isn't it? Obama replaces the GM boss, but Barney Frank - the one individual who carries more of the responsibility for this mess than any other single living human being -- seems to be untouchable.

Our Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has delayed a series of proposed immigration raids lately. Is this a sign of things to come?

The Senate Minority Leader says that Obama's policies will lead to an "explosion of government" that the country didn't expect when they voted him into office .. was Mitch McConnell watching the same election? Because this is exactly what I thought Obama would do.

Florida is offering discount cards to try and promote local business and boost the state's economy.

California wants to ban plasma televisions that use too much energy.

In case you didn't know ... Barack Obama believes that North Dakota is experiencing flooding right now because of global warming. Hey .. he has a massive new government revenue program called "Carbon tax-and-trade" to sell.

Obama takes over the auto industry

I have read a couple of blogs.... the news etc and really disturbs me that this man can just oust someone in a private firm. He had been with the company over 30 yrs so what did they offer him for him to say "oh ok here you go". You do know now GM is doomed by this government take over right???

Lets take a minute and ponder a few recent events:

• First, Obama fired GM's senior executive: "Rick Wagoner is stepping aside as Chairman and CEO... it will take a new vision and new direction to create the GM of the future."

• Next, Obama created government-backed warranties for all GM cars: "...if you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired, just like always. Your warranty will be safe... In fact, it will be safer than it's ever been. Because starting today, the United States government will stand behind your warranty."

• And Obama will decide what kind of cars GM will build: "...several members of Congress have proposed an even more ambitious incentive program to increase car sales... [such a program would] provide a generous credit to consumers who turn in old, less fuel efficient cars and purchase cleaner cars have been successful in boosting auto sales in a number of European countries." Look at history people seriously GM is going to die...good thing we drive Ford!

• But he claims the U.S. government won't be running GM: "Let me be clear: the United States government has no interest or intention of running GM."


Now that's change... we can believe in a 2 faced lying politician that shouldn't be in the white house in the first place!

We must get this message out and declare political war on Obama and his crude, rude, hostile, anti-Traditional Values America at a very early date. His ratings are dropping anyhow so how many of you that voted for him now regretting it is willing to come to our side...we have cookies:0) I will even bake them for ya!

2010 is coming up ... let's start scoring some big victories!

Oh and you know what this really means for FORD it now stands for: First On Revolution Day! Lets keep Ford independent They don't need Obama's money, They shouldn't want Obama's money and GM takeover is a good example as to why!

The Obama administration asked Rick Wagoner, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, to step down and he agreed, a White House official said.

On Monday, President Obama is to unveil his plans for the auto industry, including a response to a request for additional funds by GM and Chrysler. The plan is based on recommendations from the Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry, headed by the Treasury Department.

The White House confirmed Wagoner was leaving at the government's behest after The Associated Press reported his immediate departure, without giving a reason.

The surprise announcement about the classically iconic American corporation is perhaps the most vivid sign yet of the tectonic change in the relationship between business and government in this era of subsidies and bailouts.

Soooo....Let's get this straight, Palin got a political witch hunt so to speak because she asked an employee of her own government to step down.

NObama gets a pass for asking an employee of a private firm to step down? Is this fascism at its best, who chooses the new CEO?? So in exchange do we get Pelosi and Reid to resign?

I tell ya this man scares me and doesn't seem like he is going to stop at any length.

A Look at Nobama's Stimulus Plan

Let's look into Obama's stimulus plan for a moment. Let's try to bring it home. Suppose you, as a parent, make a rather bad decision to buy your deadbeat son a $300,000 house to live in, and you pay cash because, hey...you've got the money. You still own the house, similar to the banks owning the mortgage.

The son wastes his time at home smoking dope and inviting friends for drunken orgies. Eventually the house runs down, the windows are broken, the yards, front and back, are overgrown and a mess. Suppose now that the entire neighborhood is made up of deadbeat kids living in homes purchased for them by their parents.

The neighborhood has become worthless. It is now run down and crime infested. The parents couldn't sell those houses now for even 10 cents on the dollar they invested. Those homes are now...in the "IN JARGON," toxic assets.

Not to fear, President Obama to the rescue. Obama is going to buy up all those toxic assets, kick out the hoodlums, and try to rehabilitate the neighborhood. Obama gives each dad his $300,000 back, and takes over the properties.

DAD, Obama expects something of you however. He gave you back your $300,000 on the idea that you will now have cash to spend to spur the economy. What Obama expects you to do, as a good citizen, is buy your deadbeat son another house to live in.

Are you going to do it, or did you learn an important lesson.

Obama is spending trillions of dollars to buy up toxic assets, with the idea that this will free up the banks to loan more money. Will they, or have they learned an important lesson about responsible lending practices?

In my opinion, the banks aren't going to lend a dime of that taxpayer trillion(s) dollar windfall, unless the government is going to indemnify their investors against loss.

Those trillions of dollars Obama spent are financed by government instruments. Obama probably never expects those debts to be repaid, but the interest on financing those debts will have to come from somewhere, and interest rates are not going to stay low for long. WHERE will that money keep flowing in from?

Hey dad, are you listening. You have been sold out. Your children have been sold out. What you now have to look forward to, for you, and moreso your offspring, is inflation, taxes, crime, Godlessness, slavery to the debt, and marshall law.

Are you ready? Tell me you didn't really vote for that man.

Americans are used to April 15th being the day you’re told to pay up.

This year, Tax Day is the day to say you’re TEA’d -- Taxed Enough Already. 

As you read this, liberals in Congress are beginning the process of forcing passage of the $3.6 trillion, high-spending, high-borrowing and high-taxing Obama budget.  

President Obama is even mobilizing teams of his presidential campaign supporters, now a political organization called Organizing for America, who are going door-to-door campaign style to pitch his irresponsibly massive government expansion program that will raise taxes on every single American. 

And what could they possibly be saying about a budget that the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted last week will lead to deficits $2.3 trillion larger than the Obama White House is telling us?

Once again, we see Washington promoting irresponsible spending and expecting responsible taxpayers to foot the bill.

Here’s what you can do to fight back:  On April 15, join your fellow Americans at Tax Day Tea Parties across the nation to say no to the Obama budget. I want to tell you about two groups that are helping to organize the Tea Parties.  Why these two groups?  I will tell you in a minute and explain how you can participate.

Get Involved in a Tax Day Tea Party on April 15

You won’t read about it in the elite media, but tens of thousands of Americans in hundreds of American communities are organizing Tax Day Tea Parties for this April 15th.

Some communities have already held Tea Parties to fight back against Wall Street and Washington insiders who’d rather taxpayers ask fewer questions and write more checks.  

Over 4,000 turned out in Orlando this past weekend.

More came out in Cincinnati than at anytime since the Vietnam War protests.

Secretary Geithner Has Lost the Confidence of the American People -- If He Ever Had It to Begin With

Another reason to come out to a Tax Day Tea Party is to let President Obama know that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has lost the confidence of the American people and needs to resign.

The Geithner nomination for Treasury Secretary was tainted from the outset.  In the midst of a crisis of trust in our financial institutions and our government institutions, the last person we needed for a Treasury Secretary was a public official who had deliberately failed to pay his taxes.

And since then, the news has only gotten worse.  As I wrote last week, from the beginning of the crisis last fall, Geithner has been central to the Bush-Obama policy of corporate bailouts that has enriched Wall Street firms with the taxpayers’ money.

The Joke’s On Us:  Goldman Sachs Never Needed a Bailout

The latest revelation is perhaps the worst yet.

Remember how the Paulson-Geithner-Bernanke bailout of AIG was initially sold to the American people?  We were told that failing to prop up the firm with taxpayer dollars would let loose a cascading failure of the entire banking system.

It turns out that this was never exactly true.

That’s right.  Goldman Sachs Chief Financial Officer David Viniar announced last week that his firm never needed the taxpayers’ help after all.  Goldman Sachs, it turns out, wouldn’t have failed if AIG had been allowed to fail.

The reason Viniar made the announcement was to divert the public’s attention from allegations that Goldman profited handsomely from the bailout of AIG.

But in trying to tamp down one scandal, Viniar has revealed another:  The ground on which Paulson, Geithner and Bernanke sold the $170 billion AIG bailout was -- at least partially -- a lie.  

The Top Four Beneficiaries of the AIG Bailout? Goldman Sachs and Three Foreign Banks

So if we didn’t avert a banking crisis with the AIG bailout, what exactly have the taxpayers gotten for their $170 billion?  Well, nothing so far.  But here’s the list of the top four beneficiaries of the AIG bailout:

1.    Goldman Sachs:        $12.9 billion
2.    Société Générale (France)    $11.9 billion
3.    Deutsche Bank (Germany)    $11.8 billion
4.    Barclays (United Kingdom)    $8.5 billion

This is the real scandal of the AIG bailout.  

Add the other TARP funds Goldman Sachs received to the AIG pass-through money and you get an astounding total of $23 billion from the taxpayers.

All for a company that now says it never needed help to begin with.

If that’s not a reason to come to a Tax Day Tea Party on April 15, I don’t know what is.

Last nights so called speech

Most everything Obama said are falsehoods. On his blaming the Republicans when this was asked: What about the debt you are creating?

Obama goes back to his Bush’s fault card. He said, "I’m inheriting debt, so nyahnyah." Then continued to blast Republicans for not proposing an alternative.

The truth is: Republicans have been providing him with alternatives. Obama is either too partisan to consider the better proposals, or he is too lazy to even read them.

Note:

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today held a press briefing in advance of President Obama’s news conference scheduled for this evening. At the briefing, Boehner challenged the President’s assertions about Republicans and noted that the GOP has presented alternative ideas directly to the President on every major issue where there has been disagreement this year – and will offer a better budget solution later this week.

“I think a lot of Americans believe that our economy is in a crisis. Americans are looking to Washington for solutions. The President has offered a budget that will, in my opinion, hurt our economy and destroy the very jobs that we’re trying to save and to try to create. And I believe Republicans were offering better ideas to the President in hopes of building a better budget.

“This is today’s front page the Louisville Courier-Journal. If you read it you probably won’t be surprised that the President will probably say this again tonight in his press conference. With all due respect, Mr. President, the statement is not true, plain and simple. Your budget spends too much, it taxes too much and borrows too much from our kids and grandkids, and I believe Republicans are offering a better solution.

“Last week, I released a video — a YouTube video outlining our budget principles and laying the groundwork for the alternative budget that we will release later this week. Our alternative will create jobs by allowing American families and small businesses to keep more of what they earn, ensure that the federal budget doesn’t grow faster than the family budget, expand access to health care while preserving Social Security and Medicare, end the bailouts to protect taxpayers and reform the financial system, encourage an all-of-the-above energy strategy to make us energy independent, and to fight inflation so the prices of goods and services that American depend upon will remain stable.

“Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve offered better solutions, and the President knows that. Eric Cantor and I personally delivered to the President our stimulus proposal at the White House in January. Our plan would create twice as many jobs at half the cost as the President’s plan, and that’s even according to an economic analysis by his chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. And what was the response? The White House pretended they never even saw it.

“At a time when our economy is in serious recession, I think Americans deserve better. They need solutions, not distortions. The fact is the President’s budget spends too much, taxes too much and it borrows too much. It raises taxes on every American family and small business. It includes irresponsible levels of spending, reaching $5.1 trillion 10 years out. And if you look at the spending in this budget, you can begin to see how out of control this spending cycle is, and it doubles the debt on our kids and grandkids over the next six years. If you look at these debt figures, you can see this. This is all of the debt through 2008 that’s been accumulated in our country by 43 Presidents in 220 years in our history, and the President’s budget will double that over the next six years.

“I just think that this may be the most irresponsible piece of legislation I’ve seen in my legislative career. It’s an irresponsible plan that only makes the crisis we’re in worse. But when it’s all said and done, I think it’s time for a do-over. We need to start this budget process all over again. And I will hope that the President will work with us to build a responsible budget that will help strengthen our economy and put Americans back to work again.”

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices, 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. 

She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ 

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or
"politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

"I am… for freedom of the press, and against all violations of the Constitution to silence by force and not by reason the complaints or criticisms, just or unjust, of our citizens against the conduct of their agents."

This statement by founding father and President Thomas Jefferson echoes the sentiment of our nation’s founders. And freedom of the press and of speech is guaranteed under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, precisely to give citizens a venue to oppose the agents of a government with which they disagree.

But those agents of the government are hard at work chipping away at this freedom. To wit:

• An Oklahoma City police officer stopped Chip Harrison and confiscated a sign on Harrison’s vehicle that read, “Abort Obama, not the unborn.” A police captain later apologized and returned the sign to Harrison, but before Harrison got home he received a call from Secret Service agents who were at his home requesting to search it. Harrison complied, and after a search and an interview that lasted about 30 minutes, the agents left.
• Numerous congressmen are calling for re-institution of the “Fairness Doctrine”, a long-abolished policy that would require broadcasters to provide opposing viewpoints on controversial issues, in an effort to stifle talk radio pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz and Sean Hannity.
• During the presidential campaign President Barack Obama campaign lawyer Robert Bauer warned TV stations against airing a TV ad that was embarrassing to Barack Obama. The commercial focused on the longtime relationship between Obama and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Bauer sent letters to the Justice Department imploring the agency to pursue criminal action against those behind the ads.
• The Obama campaign also sent out an email encouraging his supporters to protest and harass Chicago radio station WGN by flooding the station with angry phone calls and emails. Activists screamed insults to call-in screeners. Why? The station had the temerity to interview Ethics and Public Policy Center watchdog Stanley Kurtz, who had uncovered university records that documented a much closer relationship between Obama and Ayers than the presidential candidate had previously disclosed.
• After Joe “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher achieved fame for his innocuous question that prompted Obama to admit he wanted “to spread the wealth around”, his tax records, voter registration, marital history and professional licensing records were searched and media members tried to slime him.
• Obama supporters in Missouri, who happened to be law enforcement officers, responded to an Obama campaign request that they form a truth squad. They threatened to prosecute anyone, including media outlets, that printed or broadcasted material they deemed to be inaccurate about Obama.
• Obama contributors in the Justice Department’s Civil Rights section (headed by $2,000 Obama donor and former ACLU attorney Mark Kappelhof) urged preemptive prosecution of individuals the Obama campaign believed might disrupt the November election. A cited example of anticipated disruption was to send mailings of a non-violent nature addressing voting issues unfavorable to Obama.
• In the final days of the campaign, three newspapers that had endorsed McCain were booted from the Obama campaign bus. The New York Post, Dallas Morning News and Washington Times were removed, according to Obama campaign officials, to make room for more important media outlets: Jet and Ebony entertainment magazines.
• An Iowa state trooper was suspended after forwarding an email showing mug shots of people wearing Obama t-shirts. Sgt. Rodney Hicok was at home and off-duty when he forwarded the emails which made disparaging remarks about 15 people in the photos and referred to Obama as having “quite a fan base.”

These are just a few of many such examples of a strong-armed government working to silence the dissenters. Unfortunately, much of the fawning mass media seem blind to the consequences.

A look at history, however, will reveal that stifling dissent is among the first steps toward a socialist government.

In Germany, on Feb. 27, 1933, after the burning of the Reichstag, Hitler issued an emergency declaration that stated, "Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed." There followed a roundup of dissenters who were imprisoned and murdered.

A look at current socialist/communist regimes such as Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, China and North Korea reveals there is no dissent allowed, in the media or otherwise. Dissenters are imprisoned, gunned down or simply disappear. Even in Russia, now a quasi-democracy, press freedoms have been greatly curtailed.

This is where our once-great country is headed, and it seems the First Amendment no longer matters.

Fellow Montanans just so you know Baucus and Tester said YES!  MCCAIN voted yes!!!  glad he isn't prez.

If we educate others about this push by government towards mandatory service, even if it did pass we could quickly overturn it. If people remain uninformed, I hope you are ready to serve against your will or be thrown in jail (how else would they enforce it?) aside from maybe rejecting services to you.

China’s central bank on Monday proposed replacing the US dollar as the international reserve currency with a new global system controlled by the International Monetary Fund.

In an essay posted on the People’s Bank of China’s website, Zhou Xiaochuan, the central bank’s governor, said the goal would be to create a reserve currency “that is disconnected from individual nations and is able to remain stable in the long run, thus removing the inherent deficiencies caused by using credit-based national currencies”.

Analysts said the proposal was an indication of Beijing’s fears that actions being taken to save the domestic US economy would have a negative impact on China.

“This is a clear sign that China, as the largest holder of US dollar financial assets, is concerned about the potential inflationary risk of the US Federal Reserve printing money,” said Qu Hongbin, chief China economist for HSBC."

Ice Cream & Obama Excellent analogy! From a teacher in the Nashville area: Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream? The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year: The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest. I decided we would have an election for a class president. We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote. To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members. We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have. We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot. The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never met Olivia's parents. The day arrived when they were to make their speeches. Jamie went first. He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise. She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down. The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely could say more. She did not have to. A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure. Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know. The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream. Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide. Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and fifty-two percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream. The other forty-eight percent of us know we're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.

This closeup shows the use of Senior (Sr.) to describe two fathers. Missing above and elsewhere is the Senior (Sr.) for Barack H. Obama in both ads.

This closeup emphasizes the gross misalignment in the Advertiser ad. The use of middle initial for all names and the insertion of ads within the Births lists is unusual.

This comparison of alleged Obama ads show SIMILAR TYPE FONT indicating that the same Linotype typesetting machine was used to forge both ads. Can you say C-I-A?

It will be a real surprise if Hawaii has a legitimate August 4, 1961 Barack Hussain Obama, Jr. Birth Certificate.

I really wish I could get in Tammy Bruce here as her topic is on this very subject tonight. Here is a bit of information for those that may not know. Sorry my kids won't be a part of this BS. We do lots of volunteer services from nursing homes, to pet shelters to picking up garbage we see as we walk around, take food to a sick neighbor. It is being said to be a mandatory volunteer system ok well which is it...mandatory have to or volunteer only if I want to it can't be both.

Roosevelt had his personal army called WPA which he used to get early recruits for the Second WW.

Kennedy had his Peace Corp which he used in foreign Countries as he wished by the most part.

The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a plan to set up a new "volunteer corps" and consider whether "a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people" should be developed.

The legislation also refers to "uniforms
" that would be worn by the "volunteers" and the "need" for a "public service academy, a 4-year institution" to "focus on training" future "public sector leaders." The training, apparently, would occur at "campuses."

The vote yesterday came on H.R. 1388, which reauthorizes through 2014 the National and Community Service Act of 1990 and the Domestic Volunteer Service
Act of 1973, acts that originally, among other programs, funded the AmeriCorps and the National Senior Service Corps.

Palin turns down millions in federal stimulus funding for Alaska

JUNEAU — Protesting federal "strings," attached to stimulus funding, Gov. Sarah Palin said she doesn't want nearly half the estimated $930million Alaska is eligible for.

"Will we chart our own course, or will Washington (D.C.) engineer it for us?" Palin said.

She expected to file an appropriations bill this afternoon accepting about $251.5 million in stimulus funds under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, coupled with allocations of $262.6 million already requested for transportation and aviation projects for a total state take of about $514.1 million.

Missing in her bill will be millions that Palin said are contingent on the state increasing the size of government, chipping in more dollars, or passing new laws that Alaskans might not want.

Among the money left on the table is about $170 million for education, especially under TItle One and for special education; millions for health and human services, including medical records and immunization programs; about $17 million for Department of labor programs, including vocational rehabilitation; about $7 million related to public safety; and several million dollars for energy projects, including some weatherization funding.

Palin pointed out that the energy money appears to require the state to pass a building code, while other funds could result in more state employees and programs that can't be maintained in the future.

She said she's concerned about "managing expectations" of the people served by the state's programs.

In a press conference Thursday morning, Palin said she looks forward to a public discussion in the Legislature about other funding in what she dubbed a "growth of government package."

She said she hopes the Legislature will have enough time to take up the stimulus issues before an April 3 deadline for her to accept the federal money. It's unclear still if the Legislature will have additional time to evaluate the funds.

"I would hope that's going to be enough time," Palin said. She also said she won't "get myself in a box" by saying she will or will not veto measures by the Legislature accepting more money than she is advising.

Legislative leaders have already questioned how Palin expects them to address several in-state natural gas development bills and other matters introduced halfway through the 90-day session. Her office issued a press release stating she doesn't see a need to call a special session offering lawmakers more time to deal with the stimulus package, energy, tighter state budgets and more.

At the press conference, Sen. Gene Therriault, R-North Pole, supported what he said is responsible restraint on the governor's part.

Palin's administration said the details of what she does and doesn't plan to accept will be made available online once the bill is transmitted to the Legislature.

Her legislation will request $252.5 million for capital projects, including:

• $20.7 million for education and job training;

• 68.6 million for water and sewer projects;

• $3 million for the Alaska Vocational Training Center;

• $2.5 million for Fire Fuels and Forest Management;

• 39.6 million for public housing projects through the Alaska Housing Finance Corp.; and

• $116 million for the University of Alaska Fairbanks research vessel.
